Louise Erdrich

A member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa, Louise Erdrich was born in Little Falls, Minnesota, in 1954, the oldest of seven children. Her mother is of French and Ojibwa heritage; her father is German American. Erdrich’s parents both taught at a Bureau of Indian Affairs school located on a nearby reservation.
